Indeed. I've recently been astounded by this tendency to underestimate the residual subjective effect of a Bad First Impresssion. The root cause (IMNSHO) being an inability, lack of requirement, inexperience or all three for techies (in the sw case) to "forget" what they already know or "presume" their intentions (realized or not) are intuited by those outside their inner conclave (aka ROW techies and non-techies).

To karl: Excuses don't cut it. Don't whine about the feedback. Instead, don't make it public (any flavour) if it ain't ready. Beta's *are* requests for critique.
You don't sound to me at all appreciative of your free test group's input. At least not from this exchange ... another less than wonderful impression made, oh, wait: PUBLIC!

Hey Deb,
Hope all is well, read ur blog when I remember to. Just wanted to say the public beta wasn't meant (thankfully) to give people any type of impression. From the docs:

"It has some known bugs and incompatibilities that will be fixed before the final release. And Microsoft expects customers to find additional bugs that are unique to their application or network environment. That is why we encourage customers to run this release only on nonproduction PCs in an environment in which mission-critical applications and data will not be affected"
