The basics:
- Real name: Deb Richardson
- Email address: deb at dria dot org
- Employer: Mozilla
After I finished my degree in 1997, I wasn’t really sure what to do. My default action was to start a Master’s degree, but before that really got off the ground a friend emailed me from Ottawa, asking if I wanted to work as a technical writer at a software company. I was pretty keen on computers and such, and pretty tired of being a broke student, so I went and interviewed. Three weeks later I had dropped out of my nascent Master’s program and moved to Ottawa.
Since then I’ve been swirling about in the wild waters of the computer industry. I’ve worked as a writer and/or web developer at OmniMark, The Puffin Group, Linuxcare, Zero Knowledge, CREA (on MLS.ca of all things), and now Mozilla. I’ve been working full-time at Mozilla (first the Foundation, now the Corporation) since early 2005, and it’s still the best job ever.
